Stories Untold

The challenge was to design a cohesive system for a series of quarterly magazine issues. Untold Stories focuses on mental health topics relevant to younger audiences, providing a thoughtful and supportive platform to explore these issues through creative and reflective design.

Each issue features a cover image that relates directly to the theme of that issue.

The magazine title consistently appears above the image, while the issue’s focus or theme is displayed on the right-hand side.

The back cover features a gradient that transitions into the front cover, creating a cohesive and seamless visual flow. Each back cover also includes a poem connected to the issue’s theme.

Given the magazine’s focus on mental health, I aimed to create a design system inspired by personal journals, a space where individuals feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and experiences. The journal-like approach encourages reflection and openness while maintaining a calm and inviting aesthetic.

To achieve this, I focused on a minimalistic design style that aligns with the journaling aesthetic and embodies a sense of clarity and mindfulness.

The lower-left corner includes the issue number and release date for easy identification. Beneath the cover image, titles of featured articles are included to give readers a preview of the content inside. Their placement varies slightly between issues to introduce subtle visual variety while maintaining overall consistency.
